Civil Overview

The Civil Department receives the filings for civil cases, prepares notices and citations, and maintains records associated with the cases filed before the court. The County Clerk serves as the Clerk of the Court for the Polk County, County Court at Law.

Jurisdiction

The County Clerk's office handles civil suits in the amount of $10,000 to $200,000. As well as cases appealed from the Justice of the Peace Courts.

**Suits under $10,000 will be handled through the Justice of the Peace Courts and suits over $200,000 will be handled through the District Clerk**
